About the Eddo Bench
The natural edged cherry board used for the top, came from a giant tree that had been cut down by a local gas company who were irresponsibly cutting right a ways to lay gas lines. The log was drug out of a hollow in Lincoln County, WV. It was then sawn at a local saw mill, with care to keep the natural curve of the log.
I had been deciding on what to do with the natural edged slab for almost a year. After receiving the Tamarack notification in the mail about the Best of West Virginia show, I knew it was time to put the slab to use.
I designed the Eddo bench to flow and capture the natural edged curve lines of the slab. Every part of the Eddo bench features curves, from the Cherry slab ends to the Walnut Stretcher. The natural beveled edges of the slab top make for a very comfortable seat. The Eddo bench has a natural, hand rubbed Tung oil finish to highlight the character and grain of the wood. It is a piece that I am truly proud of!
