Born and raised in Lincoln County, West Virginia, Eddie Austin has been building handmade furniture for nearly a decade. His interest for furniture making was sparked during his senior year of high school when he began working for local furniture maker, James Probst. After deciding that woodworking was his true calling, Eddie enrolled at the University of Rio Grande to pursue a degree in Fine Woodworking Technology. While at Rio Grande Eddie honed and polished his skills in the art of making 18th century reproductions. Working diligently at Rio Grande, he was awarded top student and his Pennsylvania desk took best of show in May 2005. Upon completion of his degree, Eddie returned to his full-time position at Probst Furniture Makers, utilizing his new skills in all phases of furniture making. In early 2008 Eddie opened his own business, Eddie Austin Woodworks, and began designing his first furniture line, the Rio series. While developing the Rio series Eddie spends the rest of his time fulfilling custom orders.
